Cleaning Lady Accused of Stealing Engagement Ring

Maryland woman pawned ring at jewelery store.

Police in Delaware have arrested a cleaning lady and accused her of stealing a customer's engagement ring.

New Castle County Police say that 37-year-old Ammie Robinson, of Elkton, Md., turned herself in to police Saturday morning. She was charged with felony theft.

Police say that Robinson stole a woman's engagement ring while cleaning a house in Bear on Jan. 4. The owner of the house told police that Robinson's cleaning crew, from Better Maid Cleaning Service, were the last people to have access to the house before she noticed the ring missing.

During their investigation, police discovered the Robinson had pawned pieces of jewelery, including the engagement ring in question, at several Maryland pawn shops since November 2011. The ring was recovered and eventually returned to the victim.
