Del. Burglary Suspects Tracked With Phone App

Police say two men were arrested after being tracked using an app on a smart phone swiped during the burglary

Technology helps lead Newark Police to two burglary suspects, accused of stealing laptop computers, several smart phones, and a car.

Around 2 a.m. on March 18, residents of an apartment on East Delaware Avenue woke up to find two men inside their home, who quickly fled with the stolen items, including the keys to a 2007 Nissan Maxima.

A GPS-tracking device on one of the stolen smart phones, helped police stay hot on the trail of the suspects. Officers tracked the two men to a Shell gas station at the intersection of Papermill and Possum Park Roads.

The pair was identified as Trey Miller, 19, of Hockessin, and Fabian Evans, 20, of Wilmington, according to police.

Authorities say just before the pair was tracked down, the stolen Nissan Maxima had crashed into a utility pole, near the gas station.

The pair wasn't hurt. Miller and Evans are both charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $1500, and other charges.

They are free after posting $15,000 bail.
