Del. ATM-Wrangling Thief Arrested: Police

One of the two men caught on camera towing an ATM with a pickup truck arrested

Two men were videotaped using a Ford pick-up truck to tow away an automatic teller machine at a Delaware gas station early Friday. One of the men has been arrested, police say.

Delaware State Police charged 31-year-old Matthew Bush, of Bear, Del., with the theft of two ATM machines and in an unrelated road-rage incident after his vehicle was spotted at a Newark Motel Wednesday.

Bush and his accomplice successfully stole ATMs from Buffalo Wild Wings in Bear, Del., on Sept. 19, and the Shell Station on Limestone Road in Hockessin, Del. Oct. 22, police say. They attempted to tow an ATM out of a Hooters restaurant in Newark, Del., but the machine was bolted to the ground.

Troopers went to a Newark Motel Wednesday after learning that a vehicle believed to have been involved in the theft of an ATM machine was parked there. Bush was found in a room of the motel, as were items linked to the theft of two ATM machines.

Police charged Bush with burglary, theft, possession of a deadly weapon, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, among other charges.

He was also charged in an Oct. 9 road-rage incident in which a driver shot pellets at the window of another vehicle, and assaulted that vehicle's operator.

Bush was sent to Howard Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $31,000 cash bail.
