Masked Men Rob 7-Eleven, Kill Clerk

As the men were leaving the store, police say 1 man fired at the worker, striking him in the upper body

Two masked men burst into a Newark, Del. 7-Eleven store demanding money. They would leave not only with the cash but with the life of the store clerk.

Delaware State Police say two men wearing masks, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered the store on Four Seasons Parkway about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators say Mohammed Rafique Ullah, 48, of Newark cooperated with the robbers and handed over the cash from the register. As the men were leaving the store, police say one man fired at Rafique Ullah, striking him in the upper body.

The disguised men -- the only description police gave was that they were black men, both wearing dark clothes with masks over their faces -- ran out of the store in an unknown direction.

Rafique Ullah, who was sending money home to family in his native Bangladesh, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video and evidence at the scene Wednesday morning inside the shuttered store.
