The defense attorney for a 16-year-old boy charged in a mass stabbing at a Pennsylvania high school has asked a judge to postpone his trial at least 90 days.
The defense attorney for Alex Hribal, of Murrysville, has said he plans to ask a Westmoreland County judge to move the case to juvenile court. In a motion filed Wednesday, defense attorney Patrick Thomassey asked the judge to delay the Oct. 6 trial so he could file motions in the case.
Hribal is charged with stabbing 20 fellow students and a security guard at Franklin Regional High School outside Pittsburgh. Four students were critically injured, but all have recovered.
Hribal faces decades in prison if he's convicted as an adult in the April 9 attack. In juvenile court, he could be incarcerated only until he's 21.
