Deer Hunt Comes to Philly

Fairmount Park to close at night so hunters can thin deer population

Starting Monday night, Philadelphia's Fairmount Park will close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the next few weeks so that hunters can thin the deer population.

The nighttime hunts are scheduled through the end of March.

There were no immediate numbers about how many deer are currently roaming the park.

This isn’t the first time park officials have called for a deer hunt. Back in 2008 153 deer were killed during a five-week hunt.
