Investigators have identified a man whose decomposing body was pulled from a marsh in Haddonfield, N.J. as 26-year-old Reginald Glover of Philadelphia.
Earlier Tuesday, investigators released distinctive tattoos of Glover and asked the public to help identify him. They were able to locate his family, however, based on some material they found on Glover's body.
An autopsy revealed that Glover had been stabbed 10 to 11 times, but that's not what killed him. The wounds were self-inflicted, according to the Camden Count Prosecutor's office. And Glover's family said he was treated for them in September.
Glover's body was found by two joggers late Monday afternoon in a wooded area near Merion and Narberth Avenues in Haddonfield, N.J., just 50 yards from a residential area.
Investigators say Glover's body was in the marsh for several days and showed signs of decomposition.
An autopsy Tuesday morning did not reveal a cause of death, but toxicology results could provide more information. They are expected in six to eight weeks.
Throughout the night Monday, police went door to door, informing Haddonfield residents of the gruesome discovery.
"It's troubling," said Craig Wolff. "We're going to have to be really diligent in looking around and seeing who's around us. You see it on TV but you don't see it in your backyard. It's not something you want to see."
Police suspect Glover's death was an isolated incident and say now that they will consider it his death an open investigation until they know what killed him.
