An eastern Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 20 to 40 years in the 2013 death of his 2-month-old daughter.
Thirty-two-year-old Matthew Wolfe was sentenced Friday in Lehigh County. A jury convicted him in January of third-degree murder and child endangerment in the death of Quinn Wolfe.
Police said he told them that he awoke to find the girl limp and whimpering, but medical staff concluded that she died from injuries including hemorrhages, skull fractures and broken legs and ribs.
The child's mother showed the judge mementos such as toys, pictures and a tiny nightgown as well as the cremated remains of the girl she called "the reason I was on this earth."
Wolfe declined to speak, but through an attorney again asserted his innocence and vowed an appeal.
