Truck Hauling Fertilizer Overturns in Delaware, Driver Dies

A trucker hauling liquid fertilizer died when his vehicle overturned in Greenwood, Delaware State Police said.

It happened about 9 a.m. Thursday on Nine Foot Road. Troopers said the driver of the 10-wheel truck was traveling westbound when the vehicle's right tires drove off the pavement.

Officers said the truck rotated and turned onto its right side. Police said the driver was thrown through the windshield onto the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers did not identify him because his family had not been notified.

Cleanup of the leaking fertilizer and diesel fuel was monitored by state environmental officials.
