Dead Woman Found Stuffed in Duffel Bag

A gruesome discovery in the Kensington section of the city early Monday morning has sparked a police investigation.

Investigators say the body of a 23-year-old woman was found inside a duffel bag on the 2200 block of North 3rd Street in the city's Kensington neighborhood around 5:45 a.m. The victim may be a college student, according to authorities.

A man discovered the woman's remains wrapped in a trash bag and stuffed inside a duffel bag as he was looking through trash outside a building on 2224 N. 3rd St., according to officials.

Police also say a burning car may be connected to the unidentified woman's death. It was found on the 1600 block of South Bambrey Street in South Philadelphia around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

According to NBC10 sources, the car is a 2011 Toyota registered to a man living in Oklahoma City.

Officials have not yet determined the cause of death or how long the body was inside the bag.
