Dead Woman's Parents Sue Bars Where Alleged Killer Drank

The parents of a slain middle school teacher have sued her husband, who is awaiting trial a first-degree murder charge, and the three western Pennsylvania bars where the man allegedly drank before the killing.

Jury selection is set for June 16 in the criminal murder trial of 43-year-old David Stahl, of Hempfield Township.

Westmoreland County prosecutor say he strangled 37-year-old Rebecca Stahl when they argued about his drinking in February 2012, before dumping her body near the county airport two days later.

In their wrongful death lawsuit, Rebecca Stahl's parents have sued their former son-in-law and the three taverns because they say, "Defendant David Stahl is known throughout the community as a drunk, and it is well known that when intoxicated Mr. Stahl would physically assault and beat his wife."
