A Pittsburgh woman was sentenced to 20 months of house arrest after four dogs were found dead in her home in May 2015.
Twenty-six-year-old Taura Krill-McCormick was also sentenced Tuesday to an additional 100 months of probation. She pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges in April.
Police say four dogs were found dead inside her home by officers investigating a foul odor coming from the house. Officers found the bodies of two pit bulls, a terrier mix and a Rottweiler.
An emaciated pit bull was removed from the home in the Beechview neighborhood but survived.
Investigators say Krill-McCormick told them she was facing foreclosure and moved out to stay with friends. She returned to care for the dogs daily but police say she stopped in late April 2015.
