Caught on Cam: Thief Steals Food, TVs, Video Games, DVDs, Diapers, Baby Formula From Daycare

Police are searching for a man who was caught on surveillance video stealing from a local daycare.

The suspect went through the backdoor of Nana’s Daycare on the 3900 block of Frankford Avenue around 1 a.m. back on July 6. Once inside, police say he first went into a refrigerator and grabbed some food. He then stole three televisions, an X-Box gaming system, Wii gaming system and four DVD players as well as diapers and baby formula.

The suspect then fled the scene in a Chevy Impala, police said.

“You must have no love in your heart for the kids if you take from them,” said Joeanna McClain, the owner of Nana’s, which serves children from birth to the age of 17.

“This is a place where they provide daycare for our children while we work and go to school,” said Beverly Cobb, the mother of one of the kids at the daycare. “And he’s taking away from the kids.”

In all, the thief stole about $5,000 in merchandise. The daycare is looking to replace the stolen items as the investigation continues.
