Police arrested a woman who allegedly murdered her own mother.
On Thursday at 11:03 a.m., police received a call from someone indicating that a resident of the Original Leisure Village community in Lakewood was in need of medical attention.
When police and emergency medical services arrived they found the body of Claudette Foster, 67. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:55 a.m.
Police say 45-year-old Lisa Marie Foster arrived at the residence and identified herself as Claudette’s daughter. She was taken to police headquarters for questioning. After further investigation, police charged Foster with the death of her mother and took her into police custody.
Lisa and Claudette had moved to the Lakewood home about 18 months ago where they lived together, according to investigators. Police say the two got into an argument last week which resulted in Lisa assaulting her mother, causing fatal injuries.
Foster is currently being held in the Ocean County Jail in default of $300,000 bail.
The Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on Claudette on Friday.
