Huge Fish Kill in Delco

Normal 0 Hundreds of dead fish were discovered floating in Delaware County.

On Saturday evening, Ridley Park police received reports of a large numbers of fish floating in the Ridley Park Lake.

Ridley Park’s state representative, Nick Miccarelli, told the Delco Times that multiple species of dead fish were spotted floating in the lake – including catfish and carp.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection were on the scene Saturday evening, taking water samples.  A DEP representative told NBCPhiladelphia.com that initial tests of the water in the lake came up negative, but fishing in the lake is discouraged on Sunday.

Ridley Park police do not believe that the fish kill was a criminal activity, but they continue to investigate.
