CyberKnife Cancer Treatment Center for Pets Opens in Chester County

A high-tech tumor treatment system used for human cancer patients is now available for animals.

Veterinary CyberKnife Cancer Center, a privately owned advanced radiation treatment center, opened for business Tuesday in Malvern, Pa. It features a CyberKnife, which is used to deliver radiation to tumors in a non-invasive manner — and with more precision than traditional linear accelerators.

The radiosurgical device uses a robotic arm that revolves around the animal to deliver precisely targeted radiation to the tumor, while sparing healthy tissue and surrounding organs.
