Curious George's Owner Found, Cited

The owner of the severely emaciated dog surrendered and was cited with two violations of animal cruelty.

Curious George's owner has been found and cited, according to the Delaware County SPCA.

The severely emaciated dog was found wandering Naamans Creek Road on Halloween.

His owner, a young man, turned himself in on Monday night and admitted he'd abandoned his dog, who he called Floyd, earlier that day.

"I thought the best thing to do would be to let him go, so I had someone drive me and let the dog go in Lower Chichester," the owner said in a statement, according to the SPCA.

Later that same day, someone found Curious George, who is a Bulldog-Pit Bull mix, and brought him to the Delco SPCA in Media. Curious George weighed about 35 pounds then and was so thin you could see his ribs. The dog has gained nearly 30 pounds in the last three weeks. Curious George's owner was cited with two violations of animal cruelty, one abandonment charge and one charge of wantonly failing to provide veterinary care, meaning he didn't give Floyd enough food.

On Saturday, November 26, the Delco SPCA starts accepting adoption applications for Curious George.
