Curious George Finds New Home

The Delco SPCA says a new family will officially adopt the dog.

After being abandoned by his owner and undergoing a remarkable recovery, Curious George has finally found a new home.

The Delaware County SPCA announced on Saturday that a family signed paperwork to officially adopt the 18-month-old Bulldog-Pit Bull Mix.

Back on Halloween, the dog was found abandoned and severely emaciated on Naamans Creek Road in Lower Chichester. At the time George only weighed 35 pounds and was so thin that his ribs were visible.

A Good Samaritan found George and brought him to the Delco SPCA in Media.

George’s original owner later turned himself in and admitted that he had abandoned the dog. He was cited with two violations of animal cruelty.

As George continued to recover, the Delco SPCA began accepting adoption applications. After holding meet-and-greets with potential families, they finally selected new owners for George on Saturday.

George is currently a healthy 70 pounds. The SPCA says they’re using some of the funds received for George’s care and sending him to “Perfect Pooch,” a boarding and training facility in King of Prussia. George will spend 10 days at the facility. On December 13, he will then begin his new life with his new family.
