Check Criminal Records? There's an App For That

Whether you're a lawyer on the go or just naturally suspicious, a new smartphone application can help you do a quick check of Pennsylvania criminal records.

Docket In Your Pocket launched in October and makes it easy to look up the criminal record of anyone arrested in Pennsylvania.

Criminal records are already available for free through the state's unified justice system website, but the site isn't well-suited to browsing on the go.

The app's data is updated twice weekly, but a Cumberland County public defender Timothy Clawges tells The Patriot-News of Harrisburg that might not be fast enough.

Creator Matt Haindfield says Pennsylvania is the only state covered so far but he hopes to expand the its reach.

The application is available for iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows phones.
