A multi-vehicle crash involving cars and tractor trailers that snarled I-95 Thursday morning was cleared just before 8 a.m., but residual delays continued.
The crash in the northbound lanes near Academy Road jammed a miles-long stretch of I-95 before 7 a.m., causing up to 90-minute delays through Philadelphia. NBC10 traffic reporter Jessica Boyington monitored the accident on traffic cams throughout the morning and reported shortly before 8 a.m. that the crash was cleared.
For more than an hour, only one lane was getting by, causing up to a 90-minute delay. All lanes were reopened as soon as crews cleared the road of damaged vehicles.
To make matters worse, PennDOT's 511PA Philadelphia Twitter reported a multi-vehicle accident in I-95's southbound lanes shortly before 8 a.m. That crash was reported between the Cottman Avenue exit and the Bridge Street/Harbison Avenue exit, but was quickly cleared.
Residual delays from the first crash persisted on 95 during the morning rush.
There was no word from authorities on any injuries.
