Craigslist Ad Leads to Home Invasion: Sources

Couple beaten, tied up inside their South Philadelphia home

Philadelphia Police are investigating a violent home invasion in South Philadelphia.

A 70-year-old man and his 40-year-old girlfriend were tied up inside their home along the 1800 block of S. 32nd Street around 4 p.m. Tuesday, authorities say.

Investigators believe three black men in their 30s came to the home posing as potential buyers of a SUV listed on Craigslist, sources say.

The men then allegedly pistol whipped the elderly man in the face and head before tying the couple up. They then stole $9,700 in cash before fleeing, police say.

The couple's late-90s model black Nissan Pathfinder was impounded by police.

The man was treated for his injuries in his home.
