Couple Claims Dream Home Was Source of Sickness

Danielle and David Beety of West Deptford had their dream home until sickness set in, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Two weeks after returning from their honeymoon in Mexico, Danielle became ill with flu like symptoms. The flu like symptoms resulted in three trips to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and two operations to remove a 5-centimeter abscess residing in Danielle’s neck.

"It was like living an episode of House," David told the Inky.

The Beetys had no idea that their house might be connected to Danielle’s illnesses until an environmental engineer tested the air, called and told them there were high levels of mold and advised the couple to get their dog and get out immediately.

“We thought we were doing everything right. We went to college, bought a house, and were just coming back from our honeymoon, and this just hit us. We lost everything,” Danielle said about leaving all her belongings behind – even her wedding pictures – based on the advice of the environmental engineer.

After they moved out, the Beetys say Danielle's symptoms went away.

Now, nearly a year after leaving their dream home, the Beetys are living with Danielle's parents, have a mortgage on a home they've been told is unsafe to live in and unexpected medical bills.

The Beetys are suing the home builder, claiming fraud. The builder disputes any connection between the home and Danielle's health problems, according to the report.
