Two New York residents have admitted their roles in what federal prosecutors in New Jersey have described as one of the nation's largest counterfeit goods smuggling conspiracies.
Thirty-seven-year-old Ke Dao Jiang of Queens and 31-year-old Wu Lin of Maspeth pleaded guilty in federal court in Newark on Tuesday to conspiracy to traffic counterfeit goods.
Prosecutors say ring members conspired to import hundreds of containers of counterfeit goods -- primarily handbags, and footwear, and perfume -- from China into the United States. These goods, if legitimate, would have had a retail value of more than $300 million.
Authorities say the pair served as wholesalers and worked with other conspirators to distribute fake goods to retailers in New Jersey and New York.
