Gov. Tom Corbett's Going on a Health Care Tour

Corbett to lay out his position on Medicaid.

Gov. Tom Corbett is launching a three-day tour of Pennsylvania to discuss health care issues and reveal the conditions under which he'd accept additional federal Medicaid dollars to insure hundreds of thousands of the working poor.

The tour to announce Corbett's "Healthy PA" plan begins Monday.

An administration spokeswoman didn't give details about it.

But three people who are familiar with it say Corbett's conditions will include using the federal Medicaid dollars to help newly eligible adults buy private health insurance policies through the online exchanges that open Jan. 1.

That's instead of expanding traditional Medicaid coverage, and it isn't clear whether the Obama administration will agree to it.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they didn't want to be named revealing Corbett's plan before he announces it.
