Corbett to Make State Budget Announcement

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett is about to update the public about the status of the state budget lawmakers have sent him.

Corbett's office has announced a Thursday morning news conference in the Capitol about the spending plan for the fiscal year that began more than a week ago.

Budget Secretary Charles Zogby and other state officials will be on hand to discuss what's being described as technical aspects related to the budget.

Lawmakers have passed a $29.1 billion budget and other related legislation, but the Republican governor hasn't said whether he plans to sign it. He also could veto some or part of it, or let it become law without his signature.

Corbett wants structural changes to the state's large public-sector pension plans, but lawmakers haven't gone along.
