Ramsey: You Will Be Arrested

Getting into the World Series would also mean a big celebration, but hopefully it'll not end up in a riot like last year. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey talks about the police strategy against troublemakers.

Philly police are ready for rowdy fans if the Phils win the National League pennant tonight.

"We have our people ready," police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said in a Philadelphia Daily News report. "We'll be out there."

Police will cover the ballpark area on horseback and the city's "hot spots" on bike and they'll use the city's red light cameras to monitor activity in other areas.

Last year the Phillies clinched the pennant against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, so things back here were pretty calm. Even though police don't really expecting a ruckus with a win tonight, they're planning based on last year's World Series win. That was a home game and some fans did get out of hand. They lit trash can fires, busted the windows of some Center City businesses and tipped over cars.

"The trash cans, any of those movable pieces, they've all been temporarily relocated," Vanore told the Daily News.

Bar owners are being asked to use plastic cups instead of bottles, just in case.
