Cops Bring Dog Back to Life After Fire

Officers rush into burning home, grab unconscious pooch and revive him

It's been said that dogs are man's best friend and that saying rang true in one Chester County community Tuesday.

Police rushed to a home along Sullivan Drive in Tredyffrin Township, Pa. after reports of a fire came in just after 11 a.m.

They quickly found that no one was home -- except two dogs named Rocky and Daisy.

Daisy was in the yard, but Rocky was stuck in the kitchen where the fire had begun, so police rushed into the burning home to rescue him.

By the time they got to Rocky, he wasn't breathing. The officers carried him outside and over to an EMS unit to begin CPR.

"They were resuscitating him and then they provided him with oxygen and then just worked on him," said neighbor Kathy Shaw. She watched the entire scene unfold from her front yard.

Shaw says police and EMS workers placed Rocky on a stretcher and worked on him for a half hour before he was revived.

Rocky was taken to the Devon Veterinary Hospital for treatment. Vets say the officers saved his life.

"They were incredible servants to everybody here," said Shaw.

The home was left in ruin, but luckily no one was hurt in the fire. Fire officials are investigating the exact cause.
