A police officer and a child were injured during a house fire in Wilmington on Saturday.
The blaze took place at a two-story house at 420 North DuPont Street around 8:40 p.m.
Firefighters and police arrived at the scene where a child was trapped on the second floor.
Police officers Mark Ivey and David Hamrick climbed onto a porch roof to try and rescue the child who was reaching out of the window.
Police say that Ivey lost his footing and fell from the roof.
He was taken to Wilmington Hospital where he is currently being treated for a minor left leg injury and smoke inhalation. He is in stable condition.
The child was ultimately rescued by the Wilmington Fire Department and taken to Christiana Hospital. There is no word yet on the child's condition.

The fire was placed under control around 9:05 p.m.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
