Shipping Container Crushes, Kills Pickup Truck Driver at South Philadelphia Facility

A shipping container crushed a pickup truck in South Philadelphia Monday leaving a man dead.

The container fell onto the white pickup at the Packer Marine Terminal along the Delaware River on the 3300 block of S Columbus Boulevard around noon.

A 52-year-old man died at the scene.

SkyForce10 captured crews on the scene as the container was removed from on top of the truck.

A spokesman for Ireland-based produce company Fyffes, which operates a facility at the port, said Fyffes is aware of the incident but can't comment since it didn't involve anyone hired by the company.
