Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana, Gun Found in Car During Traffic Stop: Police

A man is in custody after police say drugs and a weapon were found inside his car.

On Friday, shortly after 3 p.m., two police officers stopped a car near the intersection of Constitution and Hornet Roads in Camden. Police say they spotted drugs inside the vehicle and asked the driver, identified as 28-year-old Devron Lampkin of Pennsauken, to get out of the car.

Police say Lampkin then tried to flee the officers on foot but was quickly captured after a short chase.
Police say they found 85 small bags of purported heroin, 14 small bags of purported cocaine and three jars of marijuana inside Lampkinโ€™s vehicle. Police also say they found a loaded handgun inside the car.

Lampkin was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon, possession of controlled dangerous substances, resisting arrest and other related offenses. He was remanded to the county jail on $200,000 cash bail or bond.

โ€œThis was a significant arrest in that our officers took drugs and a gun off the streets of our city,โ€ said Camden County Police Chief J. Scott Thomson, โ€œTargeting those who illegally possess firearms, thereby jeopardizing all our residents, remains our highest priority.โ€
