Man Trying to Retrieve Items Dies as South Jersey Donation Bin Crushes Neck

A man trying to retrieve items from a clothing donation bin lost his footing and died over the weekend.

The Burlington County Medical Examiner ruled James Bray's death Sunday at a Planet Aid donation box located in the parking lot of the Country Farm Convenience Store in Pemberton Township as accidental.

A woman discovered the 58-year-old Browns Mills man's body partially dangling from the bin at 59 Pemberton Browns Mills Rd around 2:30 p.m. and called police.

The woman's husband attempted to the free the man, but he was already dead.

Bray became entrapped in the bin's opening while trying to snag some items from inside, said Pemberton Township Police. The bin then caused compression on Bray's neck, said the medical examiner.
