City Hall Scaffolding-Free After 2 Decades
Two decades of Philadelphia City Hall rehab wrapping up

It has taken more than two decades, but Philadelphians can finally see their City Hall as it was meant to be seen.
A yearslong rehab project is nearing completion. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports scaffolding was taken out of the building's courtyard last month, although workers are still putting on the finishing touches. Fencing and other equipment were taken out Aug. 12.
The building is more than a century old.
Repairs began in the 1980s with a restoration of the tower and the statue of William Penn atop it. A facade repair project began in the 1990s with the exterior walls. The final phase addressing the courtyard walls has been going on for the last couple of years.
The total cost of the facade project was $83 million.
