Chris Christie, ‘Master of Disaster,' on TIME Cover

The New Jersey governor graces the cover on the same week he gave his "State of the State" address, roadmapping the state's rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.

New Jersey governor Chris Christie is on the cover of this week's TIME magazine, dubbed the "Master of Disaster."

The "disaster" to which time is referring to is Sandy, the Hurricane that left much of his beloved state in ruins and Christie at odds with the GOP -- bashing his own party for failing to provide the state with the money needed to rebuild.

"Sandy was is and is above politics," Christie said in an interview with Matt Lauer on "Today" Wednesday. "There are people suffering in New Jersey, there are people suffering in New York and they need to be taken care of."

Christie's appearance on the show came the morning after TIME made the decision to bump their planned cover person to make room for the outspoken governor.

"The only reason you get this attention is if you're doing your job well and if you're an advocate for the people that elected you," Christie told Lauer.
