School Monitor Sexually Assaults Child: Police

Man worked as a babysitter, after-school monitor at Elementary schools and a camp counselor, police say

A 23-year-old Cherry Hill man, who works as a babysitter, camp counselor and monitor at two local elementary schools, was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a child and possessing child porn.

Paul Theisen, 23, of the 900 block of Northwood Avenue in Cherry Hill, N.J. was charged Thursday with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of child pornography after he allegedly inappropriately touched an underage girl, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office says.

The sexual assault happened at the girl’s house while Theisen was babysitting the child, prosecutors say.

The girl told her parents about what Theisen did to her the next day, and they reported it to police.

Theisen has worked as a monitor for before and after-school programs at the Clara Barton School and James H. Johnson Elementary School in Cherry Hill since 2006, school authorities told NBC Philadelphia.

He also worked as a camp counselor at Tall Pines Day Care in Monroe, N.J.

During a search of the 23-year-old’s home, police say they found numerous images of child pornography.

Theisen is being held at the Camden County Correctional Facility on $200,000 bail.
