Authorities in central Pennsylvania have released the name of a 4-year-old girl who died after being left in a car for hours on a hot day.
Lycoming County coroner Charles Kiessling Jr. said an autopsy done Saturday couldn't identify a definite cause of the death of Samaria Motyka. Williamsport police agent Raymond O. Kontz III said toxicology tests are expected to take several weeks.
Kontz said the woman who was supposed to take the child to a day care center Friday instead drove to downtown Williamsport and went to work, leaving the girl unattended in the vehicle "for several hours."
Police were called at about 3:30 p.m. Friday. The National Weather Service said a high of 97 degrees was recorded in the city just after 4 p.m. Friday.
