Chester police officer accidentally shoots himself in leg

A Delaware County police officer accidentally shot himself, officials said.

The Chester city officer shot himself around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the mayor's office said. Doctors at Crozer Chester Medical Center treated the officer for a graze wound to the leg.

The AP reported the shooting occurred at the Chester Police Station.

Authorities did not identify the officer and wouldn't say if he was on duty at the time.

Police continued to investigate Wednesday.
