Teen, Men Die in Separate Shootings

Authorities say they don't believe a pair of shootings that claimed the lives of three men in a violence-plagued Philadelphia-area city were connected.

A teen and two men died in shootings less than one hour apart in the city of Chester, Pa.

At least 15 to 20 shots rang out around 11:25 p.m. on the 1300 block of W 7th Street.

Chester Police Commissioner Joseph Ball Jr. said that Frank Perkins, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene, shot multiple times. David Colon Jr., 22, was rushed to Chester Crozer Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died.

Police said weapons were found next to their bodies. Another man was wounded by gunfire shortly before the slayings.

Then shortly after midnight more gunfire erupted. Basilio Clausell who was driving his car along the 900 block of McDowell Avenue at the time was shot in the head. The 20-year-old Chester resident crashed into several parked cars before coming to a stop, according to police.

The driver was rushed to the hospital where he died.

There are no suspects in either incident.

The deaths bring to 14 the number of people killed in the city so far this year.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chester Police Det. Charles Bothwell (610-447-8430) and CID Det. Robert Fuss (610-891-4700).
