Kenneth Mazik made national headlines March 1 when he allegedly drove his SUV through a fence and drove onto the tarmac at Philadelphia International Airport.
Mazik was facing charges of DUI, criminal mischief and assault charges, among others, in the city of Philadelphia but on Monday the city dropped all of those charges. Federal authorities are taking over the case.
The Chadds Ford, Pa. man will be undergoing a mental evaluation and remains incarcerated, but federal officials are taking him to court today and then he will be locked up in federal custody.
Mazik’s attorney told NBC10 Philadelphia that an FBI agent will drive Mazik out of the Philadelphia city court building Monday after the city drops the charges and drive him straight to the federal courthouse.
Philadelphia Police say the 24-year-old was under the influence when he plowed his way through a gate and on to the runway forcing all inbound and outbound air traffic to screech to a halt at about 10 a.m. that Thursday.
