Charges Dismissed Against Hoe-Wielding Man

Charges were dismissed after the man's wife refused to testify against him.

All charges have been dismissed in the case of a western Pennsylvania man who had been accused of threatening his wife with a garden hoe.

Fifty-one-year-old Ambridge resident Fred E. Poore II had been charged July 26 with aggravated assault and simple assault following an alleged altercation with his wife. But the Beaver County Times reports the charges were dismissed Tuesday after she refused to testify against him at a preliminary hearing.

Poore had been in the Beaver County Jail on $5,000 bond since his arrest, but has now been released.

Police said Poore threatened to kill his wife with the hoe and then used the tool to wreck the living room in their home, forcing her to take refuge in the basement for three days.
