Chain-Reaction Crash Injures 4 Motorcyclists in Delaware

State police say four motorcyclists were injured in a chain-reaction crash in Newark.

Police say the driver of a sport-utility vehicle failed to yield while trying to make a left turn off Chapman Road.

His vehicle was struck by a motorcycle, and the resulting chain reaction involved two more motorcycles.

Police say the three motorcyclists and one passenger were not wearing helmets. Helmets are not required by law for riders 18 and older in Delaware. Two of the motorcyclists were seriously injured and hospitalized, while the other two suffered minor injuries.

The SUV driver, 56-year-old Oliver Ngu of Hartford, Connecticut, was cited for failing to yield right of way. His son and daughter were in the vehicle. His daughter was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
