Employee of Philly Adult Novelty Shop Shot in Back

An employee of an adult novelty store in downtown Philadelphia was shot in the back during an apparent attempted robbery.

Police say the suspect entered Danny's Midnight Confessions Adult Book Store at 13th and Sansom streets at 3:38 a.m. Friday, looked around and then made a negative remark to a witness about the gay merchandise inside the shop.

The suspect then returned to the store and asked the 31-year-old employee about any straight adult entertainment inside the shop, according to investigators. As the employee directed him towards some DVDs, the suspect pulled out a silver revolver, police said. The employee and suspect then struggled with each other over the gun. The suspect then fired the weapon once, striking the employee once in the lower back area. The suspect then fled the scene.

The employee was taken to Jefferson Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a slim, dark skinned black male in his mid-20's with a beard, standing between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9. He was last seen wearing silver glasses, a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt with "USA" on the front, blue jeans and white sneakers. He was also armed with a silver revolver, possibly a .38 or .357 with a 4-inch barrel.
