Caught on Cam: Woman Steals Halloween Decorations from Front Steps of Home

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who was caught on surveillance video stealing Halloween decorations from the front steps of a South Philadelphia home.

The woman, described by police to be between 30 and 40-years-old, can be seen walking up to the heavily decorated front stoop of a rowhome along the 1100 block of Fitzgerald Street around 3:25 a.m. on October 23.

She looks up-and-down the street before uniting a figurine attached to a railing. Police say once the woman frees the decoration, she then fled the scene.

"I think it's terrible," said Josephine, the homeowner. She was only willing to provide her first name to NBC10. "If she would have knocked at my door and she would have liked [the decoration] that much, I probably would have gave it to her."

This isn't the first time Josephine had decorations stolen. She said Christmas decor has also gone missing from in front of her home.

The suspect is described as thinly built and standing around 5-feet-5-inches tall. She had her hair pulled into a bun and was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, jeans and black sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Philadelphia Police at 215.686.TIPS.
