Officials are investigating whether a police officer used excessive force while arresting a man in the Strawberry Mansion section of the city.

It happened Monday on the 3000 block of West Cumberland Street. Police arrested 41-year-old Victor Nicholas and charged him with Terroristic Threats, Resisting Arrest and Retail Theft.

A video of the arrest that was posted on YouTube was brought to the attention of the Police Department. The video shows three officers telling Nicholas to get on the ground while two of them repeatedly strike him with their batons.

The Internal Affairs Unit is currently investigating whether the officers used excessive force during the incident.
