Caterer Says Economy Caused Eviction

Couples left in the dark with no money and no place for reception

The owner of a South Jersey catering company that shut down, leaving many upcoming weddings in limbo, is giving his side of the story.

Ira Siegel, owner of Elite Catering in Voorhees, N.J., says the economy has taken its toll on his business and as a result, he fell two months behind on his rent and was evicted from the building last month.

Siegel says he's trying find alternate venues to accommodate the already scheduled events.

As for the thousands of dollars many couples' put down in deposits, Siegel says he's willing to work out a refund.

"If they want their money back we'll have to discuss it on an individual basis as to what we can do about that," he said.

Siegel says he asked the owner of the building for more time but was turned down.
