For the second consecutive morning Philadelphia Police investigated a body found shot to death in a car.
Police were called out to the 6900 block of N 15th Street in the city’s West Oak Lane section for the reports of a gunshots just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
When investigators arrived they found an unidentified man shot in the head, chest and torso in the backseat of a 1995 Mercury Sable. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
“Based on ballistic evidence we know that at least 11 shots were fired from two separate caliber semi-automatic handguns,” according to police Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Small said that investigators found shell casings not only in the backseat of the car but right next to passenger side of the car.
Police didn’t reveal any information on possible suspects or a motive. They said they hoped local surveillance video could help them figure out what happened.
This shooting came as police continued to investigate a murder mystery in East Mount Airy where a man was found shot to death in the front seat of a car.
Small said for now police are treating the two shootings asisolated incidents but that investigotrs would consider if they are related.
