Car Smashes Into West Philadelphia School

A West Philadelphia school planned to open normally Tuesday after a car slammed into the building on Memorial Day.

The out-of-control car crashed into Blankenburg Elementary School at Merion and W Girard avenues around 8 p.m. Monday, said the Philadelphia Fire Department.

The crash left the driver hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

Crews boarded up the area where the red sedan crashed into a set of windows after going up on a grassy area outside the school.

Police didn’t reveal a possible cause for the crash.
