Car Crashes Into NJ School Killing 3

Three people died after a car slammed into an Ocean County, N.J. elementary school early Thursday morning.

Investigators say they were not wearing seatbelts.

Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says the impact from the 2011 Hyundai Accent left a 6-foot-by-6-foot hole in the brick wall adjacent to the media room of Pine Beach Elementary School, which is southeast of Tom's River.

Mohel says that Matthew Budesa of Pine Beach, 20, was driving and Kimberly VanGorden of Beachwood, 20, was in the front passenger seat while Matthew Witzgall, 21, of Tom's River was in the back.

The accident remained under investigation Thursday night as autopsies were planned.

Exactly when the crash happened wasn't clear but a police patrol saw no sign of the crash when they drove by the area around 4:15 to 4:30 in the morning, Mohel said.

It wasn't until 6:45 a.m. that the car was found. The school wasn't open at the time and no students were present.

The school delayed its opening for 90 minutes.
