Car Crashes Into Salt Truck on South Jersey Highway, Killing Man

A motorist is dead after police say a car crashed into a salt truck on a South Jersey highway early Monday morning.

Police said the crash happened just before 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 55 near exit 35 in Vineland. A man driving a car crashed into a salt truck. That driver, police said, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the salt truck was taken to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Police shut a stretch of Route 55 down Sunday morning as they investigated the deadly crash.

NBC10's Katy Zachry reported that police reopened the shoulder near the crash shortly after 4 a.m., so traffic was getting by slowly in the area.
