Police are searching for a man who they say led them on a wild chase before crashing into a home earlier today in Chester.

It began around 2:40 p.m. in the area of 18th and Edgmont Avenue where officers say they observed a 2010 red Ford F-150 driving at a high speed. Police began to pursue the vehicle after they say the driver, later identified as Basilio Clausell Jr., ignored lights and sirens signaling for him to pull over.

During the chase, police say Clausell struck numerous vehicles as he sped through traffic lights, stop signs, sidewalks and oncoming traffic. As the chase continued, Clausell also allegedly drove through parks, parking lots and the Widener University campus while throwing what appeared to be drugs and contraband out of the car.

Police also say Clausell drove head on towards an officer and struck him inside his unmarked police unit. Shots were then fired though investigators have not yet said whether the shots came from police or from Clausell. The vehicle finally came to a stop after police say it slammed into a vacant home on the 300 block of East 10th Street.

Both Clausell and his passenger, Reginald Brown, fled the car on foot. Police were able to capture Brown who was taken into custody. Clausell escaped and remains on the loose however.
