Delaware State Police are investigating an accident in which a car crashed into a house.

It happened Saturday morning shortly after 11 a.m. Police say Carlot Stinvil, 22, of Dover, was driving a Nissan Maxima northbound on South DuPont Highway in Felton, Delaware, just north of Barney Jenkins Road. Stinvil exited the roadway on the 7500 block of South DuPont and struck a mailbox before driving into a ditch, according to investigators. Investigators say the car continued northbound across two private driveways before crashing through a wooden fence post.

The car continued across a front lawn and struck the corner of the deck at the home, according to police. Police say the car then struck a dirt berm which sent it flying into the air and into the back of a Lexus parked in the driveway. Stinvil finally came to a stop after he crashed into a home on the 7400 block of South DuPont Highway.

A 55-year-old woman who was inside the home was taken to Kent General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A man and woman were also inside the house but were not injured.

Stinvil was taken from the scene and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was cited by State Troopers for inattentive driving, driving without a valid license and no proof of insurance.

Police say Kent County Code Enforcement inspected the home and condemned it due to the structural damage.
